Editorial
This newsletter has been in circulation for a few weeks now, and readership remains low. This isn’t surprising, as it’s brand new and getting word out takes time. You can help us out, in two ways.
First, consider sharing links to our various editions to your social media. Facebook Groups where people have an interest in religion would be a great place to start, but any efforts to promote this newsletter can make a difference.
Second, how about writing for The Networker? Reader contributed content will be attributed, of course, and we can use whatever you have. Want to share a sermon or essay? Send it! Do you have news from your own ministry work you want to share? Send it! In keeping with our commitment as ministers of the Universal Life Church, freedom of religion will be honored here, and your viewpoint doesn’t have to align with the editorial direction of this newsletter. Do you have a helpful tip for ministers? Send it!
Please bear in mind that essays and other content that promotes bigotry in any form will not be considered for publication, and the editor retains the right to determine what could potentially be harmful. We want your news and views, not anyone’s spite. We also will not publish anything purporting to provide legal advice.
That said, please do send along your thoughts, news, and other items that would be of interest to people serious about doing ministry. From theological musings to practical insights, let us hear from you. And then pass along the newsletter to others who could benefit.
ULC in Focus
“We are now a Universal church. What do we mean when we say we are a Universal Church? We have churches all around the world. The sun never sets on the Universal Life Church. This is why we call it a Universal Church. We have, within this church, a very liberal type of religion, but, we also have conservative types of people. I have never met a person that disagrees with our doctrine. We feel that our doctrine is universal. I believe that every living person is a part of the Universal Life. When they become conscious that they are part of Universal Life, they will look for people like minded. We are sure that the Universal Life Church is the one church that satisfies the most of people. We are now looking and studying to find a way that all people can come together and work for the good of all people.” - REV. KIRBY J. HENSLEY
The Universal Life Church (ULC) is a religious organization that is known for its liberal approach to spirituality and its open-mindedness towards various belief systems. The quote from the founder of the ULC, Rev. Kirby J. Hensley, highlights the organization's mission to unite people from all over the world and create a community that works towards the betterment of humanity.
So, what does it mean to be a Universal Church? At its core, the ULC is a non-denominational, non-discriminatory religious organization that welcomes people from all walks of life, regardless of their faith, background, or lifestyle choices. This inclusiveness is what sets the ULC apart from many other religious institutions, which often have strict rules and regulations that dictate who can and cannot be a part of their community.
Rev. Hensley's vision for the ULC was to create a space where people could come together and share their spiritual experiences and beliefs without fear of judgment or exclusion. This is why the ULC has such a diverse membership, with people from all corners of the globe and all walks of life. The ULC recognizes that everyone has their own unique spiritual path, and that no one path is inherently better or worse than any other.
Despite its liberal approach to spirituality, the ULC also recognizes that there are those who hold more conservative beliefs. This is why the organization welcomes people from all points on the political and social spectrum, as long as they share the ULC's core values of love, compassion, and unity.
The ULC's commitment to creating a community that works towards the good of all people is a noble and inspiring mission. In a world that is often divided by religion, politics, and social issues, the ULC stands as a shining example of what can happen when people come together in a spirit of love and unity.
